Building sustainability into your school’s curriculum

Sustainability is one of three cross-curriculum priorities in the Australian Curriculum (AusVELS). These priorities are not treated as separate areas of learning but are integrated across all subjects to help students connect their learning with important issues in contemporary society.Education for sustainability develops the knowledge, skills, values and world views necessary for students to act in ways that contribute to more sustainable patterns of living. The learning areas of English, maths, history and science already include links to sustainability. Other learning areas will be incorporated as they are approved for implementation in 2015.
